J&S Capital is a public markets-focused investment partnership built on the alignment of interests between its co-founders, John Davenport and Shaun Sharabi, and a select group of like-minded partners. We take an event-driven approach to investing, with a core objective of maximizing long-term capital appreciation.
Our strategy is dynamic—remaining cautious when markets are overheated and becoming more aggressive when opportunities are abundant. We believe that long-term success requires patience, discipline, and a willingness to act decisively when conditions are in our favor.
At J&S Capital, we are not simply looking for investors—we seek true partners who share our philosophy and commitment to strategic, high-conviction investing.

After earning his degree from Columbia University, John Davenport joined the Leo Fund, an emerging credit hedge fund strategy within the Royal Bank of Canada. His early dedication to understanding the nuances of the credit markets led to a rapid rise in responsibility—within six months, he was entrusted with managing a $150 million discretionary portfolio within the firm’s $1 billion fund.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a long-term vision for independent investing, he transitioned to a private credit firm while developing a proprietary trading strategy. In April 2020, he successfully left institutional finance to trade full-time, growing an initial capital base of $50,000 into $3.5 million over 2.5 years. He simultaneously developed an event-driven investment strategy that nearly doubled the S&P 500’s return over the same period.
As his track record attracted outside interest, he launched an investment partnership in 2022, bringing together a select group of investors. After years of refining his strategy, John launched J&S Capital with his co-founder, Shaun Sharabi.
In June 2017, just a month after graduating from college, Shaun Sharabi moved across the country to Northern California to take on a commission-only role selling residential solar door-to-door. While traditional career paths felt uninspiring, the high-stakes, sink-or-swim nature of direct sales was an opportunity to develop resilience, strategic thinking, and executional discipline.
After two years firsthand experience in the solar industry, he founded his own solar company in July 2019. Under his leadership, the company rapidly scaled to over 500 employees and generated $149 million in revenue by 2022. As the business navigated hypergrowth, followed by economic and regulatory shifts, Shaun spearheaded a major restructuring—optimizing operations, refining the executive team, and transitioning to a more asset-light model. By June 2024, after successfully positioning the company for long-term profitability, he stepped back from his role as President while remaining a shareholder and board member.
Shaun partnered with John after months of discussions, aligning on vision, strategy, and long-term goals. While their professional backgrounds differ, they share a fundamental belief in disciplined capital allocation, operational excellence, and investor alignment. His deep experience across the full business cycle—from early-stage growth to large-scale restructuring—brings a unique perspective to both the investment process and the firm’s relationships with its LPs.
At J&S Capital, Shaun leverages his operational expertise and entrepreneurial background to identify opportunities, manage risk, and help investors navigate an evolving market landscape.
